云锣属于金属体鸣乐器族内的变音打击乐器类。用若干个小锣编排而成,装置在小木架上。各个锣的大小、厚薄不同,所以发出的声音不同。
云锣既可演奏旋律，也可为乐曲作各种节奏型伴奏，音色清澈、圆润、悦耳、余音持久。
